. Madilynn is 16 this year and loves to be creative in all that she does. She just got her driver's license and I lead her Senior Girl Scout troop. (Want cookies? See me come January!) She also plays volleyball and the clarinet. Logan is 13 and enjoys baseball, basketball and any sport that ends in -ball! My husband, Mike, is a cabinet maker of 25+ years and currently enjoying his fantasy football league(s). These are the loves of my life!
I have been in education for over 25 years and find each year to have many unique rewards. It all starts with your children and what they bring to the classroom. I am excited to find out all about their gifts and talents then put them to use! I enjoy all things Social Science and of course reading, currently Wonder is my new favorite book. I am active in our church and love to hang out with my neighbors on the backyard poach by the fire pit! My husband and I have been married for 17 years and enjoy every minute with our children(except when they whine! LOL)Feel free to call or email me anytime as we take this journey through 6th grade together! [email protected] Classroom phone (630)937-8796.
MISSION STATEMENT
My mission as a sixth grade teacher is to first create a safe learning environment for my students. I also teach my students to have respect for their fellow classmates, teachers, and all other school personnel. Very early in the year, my students come to realize the value of being different. This is extremely important to me especially because I teach a large and diverse population of students. It is also my mission to make sure my students know they can come and talk to me at any time. Many times throughout the year, students will say, "Mom" instead of calling me Mrs. Hubble. Every time this happens, I take it as a compliment. I try to be a positive role model for my students and often feel like a second parent to them. RMS Mission: Committed to empowering ALL students to pursue with integrity their maximum academic, physical, social and emotional potential.
EDUCATIONAL BELIEFS
Ever since I was a child, I have always felt strongly about leading and teaching others. Yes, I am a 'Type A' person. When I was young I usually 'played school' and often came up with different strategies for getting my sisters to help clean up or stop talking during bed time (all three of us shared a room). I spent many summers teaching basketball and volleyball camps or at the YMCA coaching.
I took this love of teaching to college with me, where I received a BS in Elementary Education with a K-9 teaching certificate. My first job was teaching Kindergarten with my OWN Kindergarten teacher. My love for teaching continued with her guidance. (Thank you Mrs. Porter!) I had administrators that were always encouraging and willing to challenge the status quo. Since then I have taught 5th grade, computers, Grade 3 in Canada, eh? and have been a Library Media Specialist. Finally, after getting my Masters in Educational Technology I was ready to venture into middle school. This is my 17th year at Rotolo Middle School!
Many people think that middle school children are the most difficult students. I believe that they are at a wonderful age. They are still young enough where you can help them to shape their ideas and beliefs, yet they are old enough to have their own opinion and come up with creative ideas independently.
I believe that all children can learn, and it is my job as a professional to make sure they are learning and engaged in my classroom. Working together is an essential skill that my students work on all year long. I often tell them getting good grades is important but it is more important that you are a good person, good brother or sister, son or daughter, etc. I also use differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all my students. All students learn in a variety of ways which is why it is important as a teacher to have a variety of learning activities and ways to present information to students.
